HERBERT G. SAGE
Thank you for your time and interest.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Please contact me for more information.

Just a quick note from Sally Sage...
This listing gives you the "nuts and bolts" of the business, but it
doesn't mention the incredible pleasure and satisfaction of owning
and running a retail and wholesale nursery.

Your office is outside.  You are surrounded by beautiful plants,
and something is always blooming.  The scents are incredible,
as are the colors.  There are birds, bees, butterflies, and
hummingbirds everywhere you look.  It's truly food for the eyes!

You are blessed with wonderful, happy customers.  Very few customers
come to the nursery because they "have to".  They come because they want to.
You become their resource and "go to person" when they need a mood lift,
a gift for a friend, co-worker, retiring teacher, or as a memorial for a loved one.
It's a tremendous responsibility, and honor.

You see them on holidays.  Mothers day, Fathers Day, and other times
throughout the year, and you help them find their Christmas tree.  You
become their "family tradition."  It's wonderful!

Customers feel comfortable calling and asking anything plant related.
Don’t fear the phone calls—embrace them!  Some of the most interesting journeys
with customers have begun with the comment “I have a really strange question…”
and if you take the time to really listen, you can help solve what to them is a
huge issue, however weird it may seem to you, and you become a
trusted friend as well as their favorite nursery!

With wholesale customers and contractors, you watch their businesses grow,
and as they prosper, so do you.  They know you'll have the plants and materials
they need, when they need them, and at a fair price.  Trust develops, and you
recommend them to your customers, and they recommend you.

Naturally, there are days when the temperature hovers around 40 degrees
with rain, or it's 90 degrees with visible humidity, downpours on what should be busy
spring weekends, and blizzards on Sundays in December, and there are always
going to be a few customers whose life goal is to make merchants miserable.
It's not all sunshine and roses; no profession is.  Your sales rely heavily on the weather,
and we all know how changeable that can be and Who is in charge of that!

And just when you're ready to search for a job in a windowless cubicle to escape
the heat or the cold, or the bugs, or the weeds, a customer will come in, look around,
and exclaim "What a wonderful place this is...YOU HAVE THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!"

And at that moment, you realize that yes, YOU DO!

Sally
